Best Place Ever
Does it get any better than this!! We don't think so. This place turned out to be the number one place we ever stayed at, five stars is still not enough. Finding this place was like winning the lottery for us. When we arrived the cottage had been prepared as if they were expecting royalty. What a way to start a vacation. Getting there from the airport was easy and an adventure in itself. We loved the feeling of seclusion the very tropical area gave us and picking lemons from trees right outside the door for lemonade was an added bonus. This cottage had everything, there was no adjusting or going without here it was like your own home away from home. Don't worry about being too secluded though we found it to be an ideal location to see all the sights this island had to offer. All our friends want to hear about the helicopter ride over Kilauea and the road trip to the top of Mauna Kea but we always start out by saying you should have seen the cottage we stayed at on the Big Island. It was my pleasure writing this review for the owners of this cottage they have given us such cherished memories and we will never forget our stay at the Hale Aloha Aina or Tom & Missy Powell.

You are truly blessed with a very special place. I say Mahalo, Mahalo, and Mahalo for sharing this blessing. As a local boy born and raised on this special island when life was so simple and carefree…your home took me back to those special times and places in my life. I sit here on your lanai reminiscing of many yesterdays cheers and smiles…it all came rushing back. It make me truly appreciate the land and the aloha spirit you have shared. I live and work in the rat race of Kona and Waikoloa, I have stayed at every resort along the coast and never has a place brought me so much peace. It is that same peace that has brought me to evaluate my priority’s and needs in life. Do I sell it all and move to wood valley??? Your hale has made me feel more connected to the aina than I have felt in a long time. Why do we need anything else? This exact thought leaves me to say this… to all the hale aloha aina visitors you are blessed… blessed to have found this special place. I am glad you have chosen to enjoy our aina instead of big commercialized hotels. Remember… the things that have made Hawaii what it is today. It is the people, the natural beauty and wonder of these islands and the aloha spirit.

| We are enjoying our last morning here packing things up for the adventures that await us down the road. This has been the best week of our month in the islands! We love your home. The location is fabulous for getting away from it all or exploring every nook and cranny! We had so many wonderful encounters with places and people. | We had a wonderful stay at Hale Aloha Aina. The weather was super, the volcano was awesome, the bed was oh so comfy, and the house was so peaceful. We got to see the moonrise from be the first night and the sunrise the next morning. You planned the layout impeccably! This is the first time we have ever stayed close to the volcano so we could spend extended time getting close. Usually by the time we drive down from Kona and are contemplating the drive home we don't get to see much. This time we walked out t o watch the plume on day. The next day we geared up and hiked out in the afternoon to watch the active lava. It was moving really well. Got to see several break outs very close and the 'falls' up on the Pali were awesome after nightfall. Even managed to walk out after dark without breaking anything. I bet you thought you'd never hear from us again! We've been really busy, which is good since we spent so much money in Hawaii! We really enjoyed staying at your cottage. It is delightful! I think it would be a great place to stay when you want to explore Volcano National Park and the South Point area. We loved the climate and all the beautiful trees and plants. Hi Missy- We absolutely loved the cottage. It is the kind of place that we would live in! We simply fell in love with the place! We would love to send you some pictures. We took some on the back porch (which we wished we could have enjoyed more of). We would also write a glowing statement about our stay. In fact, of all of the places that we stayed on the Big Island, yours is the one that we will stay in again when we go! Dear Tom and Missy, It was just incredible staying at your cottage! It was so private and beautiful, peaceful and perfect for us to relax and catch up. We have lots of friends who manage and own vacation rentals in Kapoho here on the Big Island, but none that have a place as impressive as yours. Every detail was taken into account, the home was absolutely spotless, and so luxurious! For the first hour we were there, we just kept walking around asking each other, "can you believe how beautiful this place is!?" We woke in the morning with birds singing and the sun shining into the home just like in your pictures. It was just perfect. It was the perfect escape, with no interruptions, no cars, no neighbors in sight, no kids, no work, no worries. We could not even SEE another house or person from anywhere on the property that morning. Thanks for sharing this wonderful place with us! Well,,,,,,where to begin.
We have been visiting Hawaii annually for +10 years, having stayed on all islands and in all forms of places to stay.
Quite simply, we have never enjoyed Hawaii as much as we did during our week at your place. It was perfect!
We loved the setting, the simplicity, the views, the quiet, the house itself, the location, and most of all ˆ the quality of everything there. I have never stayed in the same place twice, but you can count on our return to your place the next time we come.
We found a small, secluded beach on the South Point that was perfect for an afternoon by ourselves. Like having our own island!
We had planned to do some sightseeing during the week, but ended up doing very little. We did not want to be away from the house!
Once again, thanks for sharing your little piece of paradise with us. It was more than we could have expected.

Missy, thanks so much for your wonderful hospitality! We so enjoyed your lovely home in Wood Valley. Our only regret is that we didn't stay longer than two nights. It has been by far our favorite location during our first two weeks (out of our month here on the Big Island). My girls loved walking the roads, smelling the yellow ginger and gawking at your monkeypod tree and gorgeous heliconia. We also took advantage of your limes, asparagus, bananas and rosemary, wondering how in the world your apple trees set fruit without a cold period... It rained a lot the first day, but the second morning was crystal clear. You've really done a great job of decorating and making sure all the thoughtful amenities are present, much more so than other rentals we've visited along the way. We'll be sure and tell our special friends about your place...If you ever need help with your website (from your success so far I rather doubt you will), please give me a jingle...

to your cottage when we were there. One night we went to Kona and stayed
there so that we could attend a Luau. When we returned it was like coming home
again. On the day that we left, we felt genuinely sad to go. Everything that
you said about the place was absolutely true--and even more! Thanks for the

The difference in your rental and the other one was the feel. It seemed like the other place was a rental or a cabin, everything was thrown together, yours was like being home. Everything was done first class to stocking the kitchen, to literature and the bed linen. It was so comfortable going to bed and not wanting to get up but you had to, to see the sunrise.
